## Biography

Michel Colombier was a French composer, arranger and conductor. Born in Lyon in 1939, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire and began his career in the early 1960s as a musical director and arranger in France before moving into film scoring.

He composed scores for over one hundred motion pictures and television productions. His film credits include *Purple Rain* (1984), *The Money Pit* (1986), *Ruthless People* (1986), *The Golden Child* (1986), *New Jack City* (1991), *Major League II* (1994), *Barb Wire* (1996) and *Swept Away* (2002). He also wrote chamber music and ballets, and collaborated with Pierre Henry on the 1967 ballet score *Messe pour le temps présent*.

Colombier died in Santa Monica, California, in 2004.
