## Biography

Michel Constantin, born Constantin Hokhloff, was a French actor and former professional volleyball player. He was national men's volleyball champion in 1954, 1955 and 1956 while playing for Club olympique de Billancourt, and also worked as a freelance sports reporter for L'Équipe.

He made his credited film debut as Geo Cassine in Jacques Becker's prison drama *Le Trou* (1960). He went on to appear in numerous crime and action films, often in supporting roles as gangsters or tough characters, including *The Wise Guys* (1965), *Le Deuxième Souffle* (1966), *Last Known Address* (1970) and *The Inglorious Bastards* (1978).

Constantin died on 29 August 2003 in Draguignan, Var.
