## Biography

Michel Faber is a Dutch-born writer of English-language fiction. He was born on 13 April 1960 in The Hague and moved to Australia with his family in 1967. He studied at the University of Melbourne and later trained and worked as a nurse before emigrating to Scotland in 1993, where he became a naturalised British citizen.

Faber is best known for his debut novel *Under the Skin* (2000), which was adapted into a 2013 film directed by Jonathan Glazer, and for *The Crimson Petal and the White* (2002), which he adapted for a 2011 BBC television series. His other works include short-story collections and novels such as *The Book of Strange New Things* (2014).
