## Biography

Mick Lally (10 November 1945 – 31 August 2010) was an Irish stage, film and television actor. He left a teaching career to pursue acting in the 1970s and co-founded the Druid Theatre Company in Galway in 1975 with Garry Hynes and Marie Mullen.

Lally was best known in Ireland for playing Miley Byrne in the long-running RTÉ soap opera *Glenroe* (1983–2000). His film roles included Hugh in *The Secret of Roan Inish* (1994), Dan Hogan in *Circle of Friends* (1995) and the Horse Seller in *Alexander* (2004). He provided the voice of Brother Aidan in the animated feature *The Secret of Kells* (2009).

He appeared in numerous stage productions over several decades and also featured in other television series such as *Ballykissangel*.
