## Biography

Mie Hama is a Japanese actress. Born in Tokyo on 20 November 1943, she began her career after being spotted while working as a bus conductor and was signed to Toho Studios. By the mid-1960s she had appeared in more than sixty films, including *King Kong vs. Godzilla* (1962) as Fumiko Sakurai and *King Kong Escapes* (1967) as Madame Piranha.

She is best known internationally for playing Kissy Suzuki in the James Bond film *You Only Live Twice* (1967). Originally cast in another role, she swapped parts with Akiko Wakabayashi. Hama later worked as a television and radio presenter and author.
