## Biography

Miguel Picazo de Dios (27 March 1927 – 23 April 2016) was a Spanish film director, screenwriter and actor. He was born in Cazorla, Jaén, and died in Guarromán, Jaén.

Picazo studied law before training at Spain's national film school, graduating as a director in 1960. He later taught at the Escuela Oficial de Cine. His directorial debut was the feature *La tía Tula* (1964), an adaptation of the novel by Miguel de Unamuno. He directed several further films and television series through the 1980s.

As an actor, Picazo appeared in small roles including the doctor in Víctor Erice's *The Spirit of the Beehive* (1973) and Figueroa in Alejandro Amenábar's *Thesis* (1996). He received an Honorary Goya Award in 1997 for his career.
