## Biography

Mike Berchem is a television writer and producer. He contributed as a writer to *The Closer* (2005), with episodes from 2006 to 2012, and to its spin-off *Major Crimes* (2012), with episodes from 2012 to 2017. He also served in various producer capacities on both series, including as executive producer on *Major Crimes*.

Before entering television, Berchem worked as a homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department for over two decades. His law enforcement experience informed the writing on the shows, where he additionally acted as a technical advisor early in his television career. He appeared in small acting roles on *The Closer* and *Robbery Homicide Division*.
