## Biography

Mike Henry (born Michael Dennis Henry) was an American actor and former professional American football linebacker. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1958 to 1961 and the Los Angeles Rams from 1962 to 1964 before moving into acting.

Henry portrayed Tarzan in three films: *Tarzan and the Valley of Gold* (1966), *Tarzan and the Great River* (1967) and *Tarzan and the Jungle Boy* (1968). He is also known for playing Junior, the son of Jackie Gleason’s character, in the *Smokey and the Bandit* trilogy (*Smokey and the Bandit*, 1977; *Smokey and the Bandit II*, 1980; *Smokey and the Bandit Part 3*, 1983). Other film credits include *The Green Berets* (1968), *Soylent Green* (1973) and *The Longest Yard* (1974); television work includes an episode of *M*A*S*H* (1972). He died in 2021.
