## Biography

Mike Hill was an American film editor. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on 24 March 1949 and died there on 5 January 2023.

Hill formed a long-term editing partnership with Daniel P. Hanley. Together they edited all of director Ron Howard's feature films from *Night Shift* (1982) to *In the Heart of the Sea* (2015), a total of 22 films. Their work on *Apollo 13* (1995) earned them an Academy Award for Best Film Editing. They also received an Academy Award nomination for *A Beautiful Mind* (2001) and won a BAFTA Award for *Rush* (2013).

Hill began his career as an assistant editor at a local television station in Omaha before moving to Hollywood, where he worked as an apprentice on *Bound for Glory* (1976).
