## Biography

Mike Johnson is an American stop-motion animator and director. He studied Film/Animation/Video at the Rhode Island School of Design and began his career as an assistant animator and rigger on *The Nightmare Before Christmas* (1993). He later animated on *James and the Giant Peach* (1996) and directed episodes of the television series *The PJs* (1999–2001).

Johnson co-directed *Corpse Bride* (2005) with Tim Burton; the pair received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. He founded Fat Cactus Films in 1996 and has directed the feature *Ping Pong Rabbit* (2017). He has taught stop-motion animation at the California Institute of the Arts and the University of California, Los Angeles.
