## Biography

Mikhail Gomorov was a Soviet actor, assistant director and director. He was born in Moscow on 27 December 1898 and trained at the Moscow Proletkult studio between 1918 and 1920, later working in workers' theatres and as a director in workers' clubs.

He appeared as a militant sailor in Sergei Eisenstein's *Battleship Potemkin* (1925), on which he also served as assistant director. He held similar assistant director roles on Eisenstein's *October* (1928) and *The General Line* (1929), and directed *Krylya* (1932).

Gomorov worked at Goskino, Soyuzkino and Mosfilm from the mid-1920s, with later credits including assistant director on *General Suvorov* (1941) and *Height* (1957). He died in Moscow on 20 November 1981.
