## Biography

Milton Berle (born Milton Berlinger) was an American actor and comedian. He began performing in vaudeville as a child and appeared in silent films before working in radio, nightclubs and motion pictures.

Berle hosted NBC's Texaco Star Theater from 1948 to 1955 and became known as 'Uncle Miltie' and 'Mr. Television' during the early years of US network television. His later screen credits include *It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World* (1963) and a cameo as Mad Man Mooney in *The Muppet Movie* (1979). He died in Los Angeles in 2002.
