## Biography

Milton Delugg was an American composer, arranger, musician and bandleader. Born in Los Angeles on 2 December 1918, he died in the same city on 6 April 2015. He studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, and with Tibor Serly.

Delugg composed the score for the film *Santa Claus Conquers the Martians* (1964), including its theme song "Hooray for Santa Claus". He worked extensively in radio and television, serving as musical director on *Broadway Open House* and leading the band on *The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson* in 1965–66. He was musical director of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for three decades until 2013, and collaborated with producer Chuck Barris on *The Gong Show* and other programmes. Among his song credits are "Orange Colored Sky", a hit for Nat King Cole, and "Hoop Dee Doo" for Perry Como.
