## Biography

Milton Rosen (also credited as Milton Sonnett Rosen) was an American composer and music department staff member at Universal Pictures. Born in Yonkers, New York, on 2 August 1906, he trained in orchestration and composition at the Institute of Musical Art in New York under Pietro Floridia and Vladimir Bakaleinikoff. He composed classical works performed by major orchestras in the 1930s before joining Universal's music department in 1939.

Rosen remained at the studio until 1973 (with a brief period at Fox in 1948) and served as assistant to the head of the music department from 1950. He contributed music, arrangements or supervision to more than 150 films, including stock music for *Winchester '73* (1950), original scores or direction for *Terror by Night* (1946), *Dressed to Kill* (1946), *Hold That Ghost* (1941) and *Revenge of the Creature* (1955), and work on numerous Abbott and Costello comedies. He died on 28 December 1994.
