## Biography

Milton Rosmer, born Arthur Milton Lunt, was a British actor, film director and screenwriter. He began his career as a stage actor, appearing opposite John Martin-Harvey in 1903, and made his screen debut in *The Mystery of a Hansom Cab* (1915). Between 1926 and 1938 he directed sixteen films, among them *Emil and the Detectives* (1935) and *The Challenge* (1938).

Rosmer specialised in supporting roles as authority figures such as magistrates, professors and officers. He played Chatteris in *Goodbye, Mr. Chips* (1939) and Professor Mair in *The Small Back Room* (1949). He continued to act in film and television until 1956. He died in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, in 1971.
