Mira Sorvino is an American actress. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in East Asian studies in 1989. Her early film role was as Sandra Goodwin in *Quiz Show* (1994).

Sorvino won the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in *Mighty Aphrodite* (1995). Other film credits include *Romy and Michele's High School Reunion* (1997) and *Mimic* (1997). On television, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for portraying Marilyn Monroe in *Norma Jean & Marilyn* (1996) and received Golden Globe nominations for *Human Trafficking* (2005).

She is the daughter of actor Paul Sorvino and has been married to actor Christopher Backus since 2004.
