## Biography

Mireille Perrey, also credited as Camille Perret, was a French stage and film actress. Born Camille Perret on 3 February 1904 in Bordeaux, she studied violin at the conservatoire in Toulouse before training in acting at the Paris Conservatoire, where she won a first prize in comedy in 1926. She began her career at the Odéon and appeared in leading film roles during the 1930s.

Between 1942 and 1947 she was a member of the Comédie-Française. She later became known for character parts, including La Nourrice in Max Ophüls’s *The Earrings of Madame de...* (1953), Mme Rémy in *Dr. Knock* (1951) and Tante Élise in *The Umbrellas of Cherbourg* (1964). Perrey also appeared in the British comedy *Hotel Sahara* (1951). She died on 8 May 1991 in Fontainebleau, Seine-et-Marne, aged 87.
