## Biography

Mladen Milicevic is a Bosnian composer of experimental music, sound installations and film scores. Born in 1958 in Sarajevo, he comes from a family of filmmakers; his father was a cinematographer and his mother Zlata a film editor. He began playing piano at the age of six and studied music composition at the Sarajevo Music Academy, receiving a BA in 1982 and an MA in 1986.

Milicevic moved to the United States in 1986, earning an MA in experimental music composition from Wesleyan University in 1988 and a DMA from the University of Miami in 1991. He later became Professor Emeritus and long-time Chair of the Recording Arts Department at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. In the former Yugoslavia he worked as a freelance composer for theatre, film, radio and television, and produced a platinum-selling pop band under the alias Igor Krik.

He is best known for composing the score to the 2003 cult film *The Room*. His other film credits include *The Elder Son* (2006) and the documentary *Room Full of Spoons* (2016).
