## Biography

Mort Nathan is an American television writer, producer and film director. He was born on 11 May 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Science in television production from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Fine Arts from New York University’s Graduate Film School.

Nathan began his career writing for the sitcom *Benson* (1979). With writing partner Barry Fanaro he joined the staff of *The Golden Girls* (1985) as a writer and rose to co-executive producer and head writer for its first four seasons. The pair later created series including *The Fanelli Boys* (1990) and *Pacific Station* (1991). Nathan wrote the screenplay for *Kingpin* (1996) and directed the films *Boat Trip* (2002) and *Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj* (2006). He has taught as an associate professor at Chapman University.
