## Biography

Morton Gottlieb (1921–2009) was an American theatrical and film producer. He produced the Broadway premiere of Anthony Shaffer's thriller *Sleuth* in 1970, which won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1971 and ran for over three years. The 1972 film adaptation, directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz and starring Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine, credited him as producer.

Gottlieb's other notable stage productions included *The Killing of Sister George* (1966), *Lovers* (1969) and *Same Time, Next Year* (1975), each nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play. He also produced the film versions of *Same Time, Next Year* (1978) and *Romantic Comedy* (1983). Earlier in his career he worked at Columbia Pictures and as a press agent.
