## Biography

Morton Fine was an American screenwriter who worked extensively in radio, television and film, often in partnership with David Friedkin. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he served in the US Army Air Forces during the Second World War, later earning a master's degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh. He began his writing career in radio on series such as *Broadway Is My Beat* and *Crime Classics* before moving into television and features.

Fine's credits include the screenplay for *The Pawnbroker* (1964), for which he and Friedkin received a Writers Guild of America Award, and multiple episodes of *I Spy* (1965–1968), on which he also served as producer. He contributed teleplays and stories to *Kojak* (1973–1975), *The Streets of San Francisco* (1972–1976) and other series, as well as screenplays for films including *The Greek Tycoon* (1978) and *Cabo Blanco* (1980). He died in Santa Monica, California, in 1991.
