Murray Alper was an American actor. He was born in New York City on 11 January 1904 and died in Los Angeles on 16 November 1984. He began his career on Broadway, appearing in productions from 1927 to 1940 including *The Royal Family*, *Sailor, Beware!*, *This Is New York* and *Every Man for Himself*. His first screen credit was in the 1930 film adaptation *The Royal Family of Broadway*, reprising his stage role.

Alper appeared in more than 200 films and television series from the 1930s to the late 1960s, frequently in uncredited supporting roles. He played Frank Richman in *The Maltese Falcon* (1941) and worked with Alfred Hitchcock on *Saboteur* (1942) and *Strangers on a Train* (1951). Other credits include *What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?* (1962), *The Nutty Professor* (1963), *Ocean's Eleven* (1960) and episodes of *Get Smart* (1965–1968) and *The Munsters* (1964). He also featured in several Bowery Boys comedies.
