## Biography

Myron McCormick was an American actor of stage, radio and film. Born Walter Myron McCormick on 8 February 1908 in Albany, Indiana, he died on 30 July 1962 in New York City. He attended Princeton University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

McCormick appeared on Broadway from the early 1930s. He was the only original cast member of South Pacific to remain with the production for its entire run of 1,925 performances, winning the 1950 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his role as Luther Billis. He later starred as Sergeant King in the 1955–1957 Broadway production of No Time for Sergeants and repeated the role in the 1958 film.

To film audiences he is known for portraying Charlie Burns, partner to Paul Newman's character, in The Hustler (1961). He also appeared in Not as a Stranger (1955) and made guest appearances on television series including Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
