## Biography

Nadine Ballot is a French actress. Born in 1941, she lived in West Africa from the age of four. In 1958, while a student at the lycée in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, she met filmmaker Jean Rouch; their conversation inspired his film *La Pyramide humaine* (1959), in which she played one of the principal roles.

She later studied in Paris. From May 1960 she took part in the filming of *Chronique d'un été* (1961), appearing alongside Marceline Loridan to interview passers-by. Rouch subsequently cast her as the central figure in *La Punition* (1962). Her other screen appearances include the segment *Gare du Nord* in *Paris vu par…* (1965) and *Les Veuves de quinze ans* (1964).
