## Biography

Nainita Desai is a British composer of film, television and video game music. Born and raised in London to Indian parents, she holds a degree in mathematics and studied sound design at the National Film and Television School. She began her career as a sound designer on feature films including *Lessons of Darkness* (1992), *Backbeat* (1994) and *Death Machine* (1995).

Desai is known for her scores to the documentaries *For Sama* (2019), *American Murder: The Family Next Door* (2020), *The Reason I Jump* (2020), *14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible* (2021) and *The Deepest Breath* (2023). She has also composed for video games including *Telling Lies* (2019) and *Tales of Kenzera: Zau* (2024). In 2016 she was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit, and she won a Royal Television Society award for best original score for *For Sama*.
