## Biography

Naoki Tachikawa is a Japanese composer, producer and writer. Born in Tokyo in 1949, he began his career in the late 1960s as a musician before working as a music critic, author of liner notes and producer across music, film and other media.

He composed the music, alongside Zhao Jiping, for Zhang Yimou’s *Raise the Red Lantern* (1991). Other film credits include composing for *A City of Sadness* (1989) and writing the original story for *69* (2004). He has also produced albums and events for numerous artists and written several books on music.
