Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal, also credited as Naomi Foner and Naomi Achs, is an American screenwriter and director. She was born in Brooklyn, New York City.

She graduated with a BA in English from Barnard College and an MA in developmental psychology from Columbia University. Foner began her career in children's television, working on *Sesame Street* and as associate producer on *The Electric Company*.

She wrote the screenplays for *Running on Empty* (1988), for which she received an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe Award, *Losing Isaiah* (1995) and *Bee Season* (2005). She made her directorial debut with *Very Good Girls* (2013). She is the mother of actors Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jake Gyllenhaal.
