## Biography

Nathan Louis Jackson (1978–2023) was an American playwright and television writer. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, attended Kansas State University and earned an MFA in playwriting from the Juilliard School.

His plays include *Broke-ology*, staged at Lincoln Center Theater in 2009, and *When I Come to Die*. He received two Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Awards, the Mark Twain Comedy Playwriting Award and the Kennedy Center’s Gold Medallion. On television he wrote episodes of *Shameless* (2011), *13 Reasons Why* (2017), *Luke Cage*, *Southland* and *Resurrection*, and served as executive story editor and co-producer on *Luke Cage*.
