## Biography

Nathan Johnson (also credited as Nathan Tyler Johnson) is an American film composer. Born on 4 August 1976 in Washington, D.C., he grew up in Colorado and lived in England in the mid-2000s before returning to the United States.

He is best known for his long-standing collaboration with his cousin, director Rian Johnson, for whom he has composed scores including *Brick* (2005), *The Brothers Bloom* (2008), *Looper* (2012), *Knives Out* (2019), *Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery* (2022) and *Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery* (2025). Johnson also composed the music for the series *Poker Face* (2023). His other film scores include *Don Jon* (2013) and *Nightmare Alley* (2021).

Johnson began his career with the band The Cinematic Underground; his work in that project led to opportunities in film scoring. He has received recognition from the International Film Music Critics Association, including Breakthrough Film Composer of the Year for *Looper*.
