## Biography

Neal Israel (born 27 July 1945) is an American film and television director, screenwriter and producer. He began his career on the Broadway stage as an assistant to director George Abbott and later worked in television at ABC and CBS before moving into feature films.

Israel co-wrote the screenplay for *Police Academy* (1984) with Pat Proft and directed and co-wrote *Bachelor Party* (1984). He also wrote *Real Genius* (1985). He has directed episodes of several television series, including *The Wonder Years* (1988), *Clueless*, *Lizzie McGuire* and *Even Stevens*.
