Neil Dudgeon is an English actor born on 2 January 1961 in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. He studied at the University of Bristol and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He began appearing in screen roles in the late 1980s.

Dudgeon is known for playing DCI John Barnaby in the ITV series *Midsomer Murders* since 2011, succeeding John Nettles. He first appeared in the series in 2000. Other television credits include Brian Peterson in *The Street* (2006), roles in *The Mrs Bradley Mysteries*, *Messiah* and *Life of Riley*, and film appearances as a taxi driver in *Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason* (2004) and Joshua in *Son of Rambow* (2007).
