## Biography

Neil McKay is a British television and film writer. He began his career writing episodes for series including *The Bill*, *Peak Practice*, *Casualty*, *Medics*, *London’s Burning*, *Heartbeat* and *Holby City*. His first one-off drama was an adaptation of *Wuthering Heights* (1998).

McKay’s breakthrough came with the 2000 drama *This is Personal: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper*, which won a Broadcast Award. He later wrote *See No Evil: The Moors Murders* (2006), for which he received a BAFTA for Best Drama Serial, *Mo* (2010), *Appropriate Adult* (2011), *The Moorside* (2017), the feature *Dream Horse* (2020), *Four Lives* (2022) and *The Reckoning* (2023). He has received further BAFTA nominations and other awards for his factual dramas.
