Born in Chicago, Illinois, she began her career in her teens as part of the husband-and-wife vaudeville act Mack and Walker with Wilbur Mack, whom she married in 1910. She made her film debut in 1929 and appeared in more than 100 films over the next quarter-century, typically in supporting roles as society matrons or upper-class women. Her credits include *Trouble in Paradise* (1932), *Stella Dallas* (1937), *In Name Only* (1939), *Kitty Foyle* (1940), *Hellzapoppin'* (1941), *The Locket* (1946) and *Sabrina* (1954) as Maude Larrabee.
