Néstor Carbonell is an American actor, director and screenwriter. Born in New York City on 1 December 1967, he graduated from Harvard University with a degree in English.

He first gained prominence as Luis Rivera in the NBC sitcom *Suddenly Susan* (1996–2000). Carbonell is known for his roles as Richard Alpert in *Lost* (2007–2010), Sheriff Alex Romero in *Bates Motel* (2013–2017) and Mayor Anthony Garcia in Christopher Nolan’s *The Dark Knight* (2008) and *The Dark Knight Rises* (2012). He won the 2024 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in the FX series *Shōgun*.
