## Biography

Niall Buggy is an Irish actor born on 3 October 1948 in Dublin. He trained at the Abbey Theatre School and began his career in 1971, working extensively in theatre as well as film and television in Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

On stage he played Brian in *Dead Funny*, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy Performance in 1995, and the lead in Brian Friel's *Uncle Vanya*, for which he received an Irish Times Theatre Award. His screen credits include *Zardoz* (1974), *Hellraiser* (1987), *Alien³* (1992), *Casanova* (2005), *Mamma Mia!* (2008) as Father Alex, *Mr. Turner* (2014) and *The Miracle Club* (2023) as Tommy Fox. He is also credited as Nyall Buggy.
