## Biography

Niall Tóibín was an Irish actor and comedian. Born in Cork in 1929, he began his career in the 1950s with the Radio Éireann Players and later worked extensively in theatre, including multiple productions at the Abbey Theatre.

He appeared in films including *Ryan's Daughter* (1970), *Far and Away* (1992) as Joe Donnelly, *Veronica Guerin* (2003) as Judge Ballaugh and *Rawhead Rex* (1986). On television he played Father MacAnally in *Ballykissangel* (1996–2001) and featured in series such as *The Irish R.M.* and *Casualty*. He received an IFTA lifetime achievement award in 2011 and the Freedom of Cork in 2015. Tóibín died in Dublin in 2019.
