## Biography

Nicholas Laughland was a British television director. Born in Newport, Monmouthshire, he began his career in the late 1970s as a floor manager on the soap opera *Crossroads* and worked in production roles at the BBC before completing the BBC directors’ course. He directed episodes of series including *Brookside* and *The Bill*.

Laughland directed episodes of *Lovejoy* (1993), *Boon* (1990–1992) and nine episodes of *Midsomer Murders* (2011–2018). Other credits include *New Tricks*, *Lewis*, *Wire in the Blood*, *Wild at Heart* and the television film *Under the Greenwood Tree* (2005). He died in 2020.
