## Biography

Nicholas Nayfack was an American film producer. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on 27 January 1909, he was the nephew of MGM studio chief Nicholas Schenck and United Artists executive Joseph M. Schenck. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia Law School, and entered the film industry as a lawyer in 1934.

Nayfack worked at 20th Century Fox and later joined MGM, where he headed the business affairs office. He served as a lieutenant commander in the US Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war he became a producer at MGM; his credits include *Border Incident* (1949), *Escape from Fort Bravo* (1953), *Forbidden Planet* (1956) and *The Power and the Prize* (1956). He subsequently formed his own company, Pan Productions, which released *The Invisible Boy* (1957) through MGM.

Nayfack died of a heart attack on 31 March 1958 at his home in Beverly Hills, California, aged 49.
