## Biography

Nick Davis is an American director, writer and producer. Born in New York City in 1965, he is the son of documentary filmmaker Peter Davis. He attended the Collegiate School in New York and Harvard College, where he was a founding member of the improv group On Thin Ice, graduating in 1987. He began his film career working on Ken Burns’ Baseball and co-wrote the novel Boone with Brooks Hansen, published in 1990.

Davis has directed episodes of the ESPN series 30 for 30, including contributions in 2021, as well as the documentaries Once Upon a Time in Queens (2021), Leaving Tracks (2021) and This Ordinary Thing (2025). He directed, wrote and produced the 2025 documentary You Had to Be There: How the Toronto Godspell Ignited the Comedy Revolution..., which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. He is married to novelist Jane Mendelsohn, with whom he co-wrote the screenplay for the Godspell film.
