## Biography

Nick Laird-Clowes is an English musician and composer. Born on 5 February 1957 in London, he is best known as the lead singer, guitarist and primary songwriter of the band The Dream Academy, whose 1985 single "Life in a Northern Town" reached the top ten in several countries.

He has composed original scores for films including *The Invisible Circus* (2001), *Fierce People* (2006), *Battle for Haditha* (2007) and *About Time* (2013). Laird-Clowes has also contributed lyrics to Pink Floyd's 1994 album *The Division Bell* and released solo work under the name Trashmonk.
