## Biography

Nick Long Jr. was an American actor and dancer. He was born on 14 August 1904 in Greenlawn, New York, the son of vaudeville performers Nick Long Sr. and Idele Cotton.

Long began performing on stage as a child alongside his parents and appeared in silent films from 1915, including *Hearts of Men* (1915), *The Corner Grocer* (1917) and *The Oakdale Affair* (1919). In the sound era his film roles included Basil in *Broadway Melody of 1936* (1935) and Anthony Lamb in *King of Burlesque* (1936). He performed in several Broadway productions, among them *Lady Butterfly* (1923), *She's My Baby* (1928), *Say When* (1934–1935) and *Louisiana Purchase* (1940). He also worked as an actor and dancer in London in the 1930s.

Long died on 31 August 1949 in New York following a traffic accident.
