Nico Muhly is an American composer of contemporary classical music, film scores and operas. Born in Vermont in 1981, he studied English at Columbia University and music composition at the Juilliard School. He worked as an assistant to Philip Glass for several years before establishing his own career.

Muhly has composed scores for films including *The Reader* (2008), *Joshua* (2007), *Kill Your Darlings* (2013), *Margaret* (2011) and *How to Talk to Girls at Parties* (2017).
