## Biography

Nicolas Chartier is a French film producer. In 2005 he founded Voltage Pictures, a Los Angeles-based production, financing and distribution company, where he serves as CEO. He began his career in France, working as a janitor at Disneyland Paris before selling a screenplay and relocating to Los Angeles, where he held sales and acquisitions roles.

Chartier produced *The Hurt Locker* (2008), Voltage Pictures' first in-house production. The film won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, as well as BAFTA and Producers Guild of America awards. He was executive producer on *Dallas Buyers Club* (2013) and has produced or executive produced numerous other films, including *Don Jon* (2013), *Wind River* (2017), *I Feel Pretty* (2018) and *Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile* (2019).

Chartier was barred from attending the 2010 Academy Awards ceremony after sending an email to Academy members urging them to vote for *The Hurt Locker* over a higher-budget film.
