Nicole Hiss is a French actress born in 1939 in Rouen. She trained at the Conservatoire de Rouen and the École Charles Dullin, where she studied under Georges Leroy, who introduced her to Marie Bell; Bell subsequently cast her in a stage production of *Le Dixième Homme* by Paddy Chayefsky.

Hiss is known for her work in several films by Marguerite Duras, including *La Femme du Gange* (1974), *India Song* (1975) as the Voix intemporelle (voice), and *Son nom de Venise dans Calcutta désert* (1976). Other screen credits include *Destroy, She Said* (1969), *Tea in the Harem* (1985) and various French television series and films from the 1960s onwards.
