Niels Vørsel is a Danish screenwriter. Born on 9 December 1953 in Aarhus, he began as a poet and author of novels and radio plays before entering film.

He has maintained a long collaboration with director Lars von Trier, co-writing the screenplays for *The Element of Crime* (1984), *Epidemic* (1987) and *Europa* (1991). Vørsel also co-wrote the television series *The Kingdom* (1994) and its sequel *The Kingdom II* (1997), and contributed to the American adaptation *Kingdom Hospital* (2004).

He appeared as himself in *Epidemic* and has received awards including the Carl Th. Dreyer Prize in 1995.
