## Biography

Nigel Walters (1941–2025) was a British cinematographer. He began his career at BBC Wales in 1963 and worked as a BBC film cameraman for nearly 30 years, filming over 100 programmes including episodes of *Panorama*, *Horizon*, *Arena* and *40 Minutes*, as well as documentaries and dramas around the world.

After going freelance in 1992 he shot the first 15 episodes of *Kavanagh QC* (1995), the television film *Streetlife* (1995) and the Channel 4 series *Queer as Folk* (1999), for which he was director of photography on all eight episodes. His other credits include *Midsomer Murders*, *William and Mary* and the feature *One of the Hollywood Ten* (2000). He was nominated for a BAFTA TV Craft Award for *Around the World in 80 Days* (1989).

Walters joined the British Society of Cinematographers in 1998 and served on its board of governors from 2005 to 2020, receiving the BSC John Alcott Award in 2016.
