## Biography

Nikolaus Summerer is a German cinematographer. Born in Munich in 1971, he initially studied business administration in Regensburg before undertaking film technology internships and training as a camera technician. He later studied at the University of Television and Film Munich and has worked as a director of photography since 2004.

Summerer has collaborated repeatedly with director Baran bo Odar. Their credits together include the feature *Who Am I* (2014) and the Netflix series *Dark* (2017–2020) and *1899* (2022). Other notable work encompasses *The Silence* (2010), *The Siege of Jadotville* (2016) and *Dune: Prophecy* (2024).

He received the German Camera Award for *Who Am I* and an award from the German Academy for Television for his work on *Dark*.
