## Biography

Noam Pitlik was an American actor and television director. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Temple University and began his career acting in a local Western series before moving to New York, where he appeared in an off-Broadway production of *The Threepenny Opera* in 1957. He later worked in Hollywood, appearing in guest roles on series including *Hogan's Heroes*, *Bewitched*, *I Dream of Jeannie*, *The Munsters*, *Get Smart* and *All in the Family*, as well as films such as *The Graduate* (1967) and *The Fortune Cookie* (1966).

From the mid-1970s Pitlik concentrated on directing, helming more than 200 episodes across numerous series. He directed 102 episodes of *Barney Miller*, 11 episodes of *Taxi* (1978) and episodes of *Wings*, *Mr. Belvedere* and *One Day at a Time*. For his work on *Barney Miller* he received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series in 1979, as well as a Peabody Award and a Directors Guild of America Award.
