## Biography

Noel Behn was an American novelist, screenwriter and theatrical producer. Born in Chicago in 1928, he served in the US Army's Counterintelligence Corps before settling in New York, where he became producing director of the Cherry Lane Theater in the 1950s and 1960s and helped develop the Off-Broadway movement.

His debut novel *The Kremlin Letter* (1966) was adapted into a 1970 film directed by John Huston. His nonfiction account *Big Stick-Up at Brink's* (1977) was filmed as *The Brink's Job* (1978). Behn wrote seven episodes of the series *Homicide: Life on the Street* between 1993 and 1997, and also appeared in two films by Woody Allen.
