## Biography

Norbert Glanzberg (12 October 1910 – 25 February 2001) was a Galician-born French composer and pianist. Born Nathan Glanzberg in Rohatyn, then in Austria-Hungary (now Ukraine), his family moved to Würzburg, Germany, in his infancy. He studied piano and composition at the Würzburg State Conservatory from 1924 and later worked as a conductor and composer in Germany.

After fleeing Nazi Germany in 1933, he settled in France and composed scores for numerous films, including *Mon Oncle* (1958) directed by Jacques Tati. He also wrote popular songs, notably several performed by Édith Piaf such as "Padam, padam" (1951). Glanzberg married Marischka Mazurek in 1952; they had a son, Serge, in 1959.
